Falling in love is a beautiful feeling but choosing a wrong person can scare one for life. In other to make the best choice, one should not only be away of red flags in a relationship to avoid entry of a problematic partner, but also green flags, so that you attract a loving and caring person in your life.
Chandni Tugnait, a psychotherapist, life and business coach, and founder - director of Gateway of Healing talks about top five(5) green and red flags in a relationship.
These include the following:
1) OPEN COMMUNICATION- Green Flag:
If the person believes in sharing views, expectations, feelings and thoughts authentically, respectfully and freely, he/she is the right person for you.
2) HONOURING PROMISES- Green Flag:
Sticking to the promises and taking responsibility for times they are unable to meet the same without getting defensive is a good trait in a partner.
3) RESPECTING PERSONAL SPACE-Green Flag:
Understanding and valuing the time you need for yourself, your goals, friends and interests without judging or making you feel guilty is definitely a big plus.
4) INCLUSIVE- Green Flag:
Including you in their plans and sharing the long-term vision instead of making you feel left-out or ignored is a green flags.
5) HONOURING A "NO"- Green Flag:
Honouring a 'No' whether it is for a date sex or something else. Companion for each other needs is pivoted In a relationship.
POOR CONFLICT RESOLUTION- Green Flag:
Yelling, overgeneralising, assuming, attacking, getting violent or aggressive during disagreements is a red flag you should pay attention to.
7) LACK OF RECIPROCITY- Red Flag:
Focusing only on their own needs to be met without reciprocation is a capital NO.
8) FALSE PROMISES-Red Flag:
Not living up to the promises made and constantly giving excuses is a big NO.
9) GASLIGHTING- Red Flag:
Manipulating and lying to make you question your own beliefs and reality .
10) ONLY INTERESTED IN SEX- Red Flag:
Showing Interested only in physical relationship whether it is in conversation or actions is a red flag.
