AKWA IBOM 2023


 LIST OF ELIGIBLE DELIGATES TO VOTE DURING THE STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY AND HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PRIMARIES.

Ahead of the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom State, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) have announced the commencement of the  state's  Party primaries for State House of Assembly and House of Representatives seat.

All aspirants, delegates and members of the party should note that primaries to elect candidate for the State House of Assembly and House of Representatives will hold today Sunday May 22, 2023 as earlier announced by the National Working Committee of the PDP.

The National Working Committee of the party has earlier classified that by virtue of section 84(8) of the Electoral Act, 2022, those Qualified and and eligible to vote as delegates in the forthcoming primaries and National Convention of the Party are the three (3) Ad-Hoc Delegates per ward, elected at the ward congresses and one (1) National Delegate per Local Government, elected at the Local Government Area congresses.

All eligible delegates to these nominations are expected to be physically present in their respective venues for accreditation which will begin by 8am prompt. The nomination for the State House of Assembly is expected to hold from 8am-12 noon while the  nomination for candidates for the House of Representatives seat will begin from 2pm.

Ezekwesili: It’s Too Late For Presidential Candidates To Withdraw — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it is too late for Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili to withdraw  as presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN). According to Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, taking such a step at this time is against the constitution as amended. Mr Oyekanmi said “The deadline for Ezekwesili or any candidate in that category to withdraw or be replaced has passed”. Oyekanmi said candidates are free to withdraw their candidature but in Ezekwesili’s case the timing is the problem. He said according to section 35 of the electoral act, “you can indicate that willingness not later than 45 days to the General Elections”. The INEC Chairman’s spokesperson noted that in the 2019 schedule of activities, 17th of November 2018 was the last day for withdrawal or replacement of candidates. FG To Increase VAT – Finance Minister

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, says the Federal Government will increase the Value Added Tax on some items in the course of the year. Some of the items according to her, will include carbonated drinks as well as some luxury items.
