Pastor Umo Eno Wins Akwa Ibom PDP Governorship Primary Election

Pastor Umo Eno, the winner of the just concluded PDP Governorship primary election in Akwa Ibom State.

Umo Eno is the preferred candidate of the incumbent Governor, Udom Emmanuel.

Umo Eno who is from Uyo senatorial district of Akwa Ibom State scored a total number of 993 votes to defeat other 7 candidates.

He defeats Onofiok Luke, Obong Bassey Albert, Baba Ntan and others to emerge winner of the PDP primary in the State by scoring 993 of the Total votes cast.

Result of the votes cast by individual candidates as announced by INEC officials include the following:

1) Umo Bassey Eno- 993 (winner)
2) Onofiok Luke- 3
3) Bassey Albert- 1
4) Idorenyin Umoh- 2
5) Aniekan Akpan Okon- 3
6) Owodiong- 1
7) Akan Okon- 3
8) Baba Ntan- 1
9) Void votes- 2

However, Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has congratulated Umo Eno on his victory in the election.

The election took place at God'swill Akpabio International stadium Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

Ezekwesili: It’s Too Late For Presidential Candidates To Withdraw — INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that it is too late for Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili to withdraw  as presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN). According to Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman Professor Mahmood Yakubu, taking such a step at this time is against the constitution as amended. Mr Oyekanmi said “The deadline for Ezekwesili or any candidate in that category to withdraw or be replaced has passed”. Oyekanmi said candidates are free to withdraw their candidature but in Ezekwesili’s case the timing is the problem. FG To Increase VAT – Finance Minister

The Minister of Finance, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, says the Federal Government will increase the Value Added Tax on some items in the course of the year. Some of the items according to her, will include carbonated drinks as well as some luxury items. She stated this on Wednesday at the launch of the Strategic Revenue Growth Initiative in Abuja, targeted at improving revenue sources for government. Ahmed said the move had become imperative as a result of the fiscal challenges the government is confronted with in providing infrastructure for its people.
